Subject: my dream this morning

Good morning, Molly -

Oh, wow!  It was such a great dream, too.  I just woke up and felt the need to share with you before the memory of it dissipates like the morning dew.  I'm still giddy from it.  Like with most dreams, I don't remember how it started, but I sure do remember the part right before I woke up...

You flashed me one of your infamous big smiles as I followed you and Honey down a dirt path and into a house.  The inside looked like a very large version of Bee's kitchen.  We were celebrating your mom.  There was a huge group of people in a massive circle, many of them holding hands or with arms around each other singing.  Bee didn't have her bum knee and Sarah was unusually tall.  You put your hands around your mouth and called out that we needed to change it up.  Honey grumbled a bit but quickly joined in.  We all hooped and hollered.  Then we were all leaning into the circle doing this loud foot stomp and chant kind of thing with clapping of hands, like what they do at high school sports rallies.  I was so happy and looking up at how the ceiling was all glass windows in perfectly square frames.  The sun was shining through on all of us.  I was admiring a wall-length shelf sitting about a foot below the ceiling, filled with numerous Christmas cacti in old terra cotta pots, and how their bright red blooms were beautifully lit and reflected in the glass above.  Someone tall bent down to whisper to me to remind him to take a picture of the reflection.  Right as the chant had finished and the circle broke up, Tom walked by wearing his usual mischievous grin and a purple and gold letterman jacket.  It was covered in little colorful chenille patches on the back.  I commented about how impressed I was and he shrugged, "It's not mine.  It's from Salinas.  I dropped out of high school."  I tried to hide my confusion and then looked around to recognize the faces of many people who were also wearing the same jackets, exactly like what I wore in high school as a cheerleader.

That's when I woke up.  I wish I could accurately convey in words the incredible beat of the foot stomp chant that is still going through my head.  I don't know why, but it felt important to share this dream with you.

I missed picking up the Herald on Tuesday and will see if I can find Cynthia's obit online this morning.  I hope you are still feeling good.

Wishing you all the best,
Katie
